Achievements of the Centre:
1. Contribution to Manpower:
Pakistan Study Centre supplies year by year a huge number of qualified teachers to the various colleges, higher secondary schools and universities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and elsewhere in the country. Almost every year, two or three of our graduates qualify the CSS and PMS examinations and get absorbed in the District Management Group. Some find their way to other cadres including the judiciary.
2. Research:
As regards research, so far 588 MA theses have been written on multifarious themes. Taken together, these theses constitute the chronological history of Pakistan in general and that of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in particular. Some of the theses have been written on applied themes and other contemporary and social issues. The expenses on these theses including the remunerations paid to the external examiners are borne out by the Centre itself. The quality of some theses is as good as M.Phil or Ph.D theses. Besides, the supervision of these theses which includes the language correction, a highly laborious and demanding task indeed, is first carried out by our own faculty. Due to the huge number of students, one Professor is supposed to supervise 20 students simultaneously. It goes without saying that if some weightage is given to these theses, then certainly this will not sound a mean accomplishment.
3. M.Phil / Ph.D Programme:
Due to one reason or another, the launching of M.Phil leading to Ph.D programme was delayed but since June 2005, the programme has been launched. Two sessions have completed their course work including the comprehensive examination and are about to start work on their Ph.D dissertations. In about two or three years, they will get their awards.
4. Professional help to the Provincial Government:
From time to time Pakistan Study Centre provides professional help to the Provincial Government. As a case in point, in summer 2008, the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assigned us a project i.e. to investigate into “The Current Situation in FATA”. The task was successfully completed in a very short time and handed over to the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who appreciated it very much.
